GIVEAWAY - 2 in 1 Harness Buddy
LEASH THE BEAST!! (photos of Jack taken pre-haircut)
I used to be one of those people that thought leashing a child was a human rights violation. It was something I was expecting the ACLU to eventually take issue with. But that was before I became Jackson’s mommy! I averted a few crises by the skin of my teeth when he was my only kid. But once I became mom to 3, I really began seeing the purpose behind this product, made by GoldBug - it’s a way to restrict a child just enough to keep him safe, while not confining him to a stroller constantly. Kids need exercise and freedom to explore, but they also need to avoid getting run over or kidnapped…it’s all about striking that balance, ya know?! Plus, the backpack leash is super cute and most kids love them. I don’t have "most kids" though, and my wildman happens to HATE the idea of having anything buckled around his body to go anywhere (unless he and Finley are just playing). Unfortunately, I don’t have it in me to potty train AND leash train him all at once. Lately though, he and Fin have been playing with the harnesses around the house, and Jack seems to be warming up to it…I might make another attempt to use it in public soon, like in the parking lot on our way to the zoo/museum/gardens/etc.
It’s adorable, comfortable, and totally functional. If only I could get all my kids to wear one, I’d look like one of those professional dog walkers - tangled in leashes while kids zigzag around and through my legs!! Hahaha, picture that!
So, as long as you promise not to do the leash jerk…you know, the one you do when your dog stops to smell and pee on every flower you pass…you’re eligible to de-stress your life through this GIVEAWAY! You SO want one of these if you have more than 1 child. Or just a Jackson. Or possibly worse, a Finley. Any of those scenarios might warrant a leashed beast. But, if you have BOTH (a Jackson or Fin AND another kiddo), this thing might be your new best friend! This is why I felt it was an appropriate Mother’s Day giveaway;) And because the GoldBug people are so generous, I have 3 harnesses to giveaway: the doggie and 2 monkies. Just drop me a comment telling me why you need this / who would be leashed. 1 winner will be chosen for the most compelling story – that winner will choose her prize (monkey or doggie). The 2nd & 3rd winners will be randomly selected using a random integer generator. You know the rules, but here they are again:
- Drop a comment by May 15 at midnight, winners will be chosen and announced May 16
- Blog, twitter, or chat about this giveaway for an extra entry (max 3 per person), just come back and drop a comment with the link where you spread the word. Gain an extra entry in addition to the potential 3 entries above (for this and future giveaways) if you donate(d) ANY amount to Heather’s charitable giveaway to help build a home for a family in Vietnam and get the chance to win a double stroller!
- Must have a US or Canadian shipping address, or be willing to pay shipping, to enter

I am expecting my first child and would LOVE to have this in my stockpile of stuff for the little one.
I posted on my FB - http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/profile.php?id=9630470&ref=nf.
I also posted on my blog… I should have spread out these entries, huh? and my blog - http://ourlittlegeekling.wordpress.com/.
We have the dog and it has been a lifesaver. Fortunately my oldest loves it. Before we had it though, we went to our small public library. Maria had decided to start a rousing game of chase (I was 8.5 months pregnant). She did eventually stop to use the shelves as a ladder and then she disappeared into thin air. I later found her in the kid’s CD collection where she was very systematically removing each CD off the shelf.
While we already have one, I KNOW we will need one more for her sister. Teresa has yet to really start crawling but she likes to be on the move and I’ve already lost her under the couch too many times to count.
I’ve been thinking about these products for a while! My little man has just started to walk, and I KNOW in no time he will be running way faster than I can keep up with him. If he is anything like my husband was as a child it will be a lifesaver!
We also have one of these for our oldest child and let me tell you, it is fabulous in spite of the comments some people feel compelled to utter (ie., asking us if it’s appropriate to leash a toddler while I bit my tongue to keep from asking if it’s more appropriate for them to have their 4 or 5 yr. old in a stroller instead of getting exercise!). It has given us much peace of mind in the mall, on vacation, etc. I know we will need one for his baby sister soon too. I think they’re a great product. Our son enjoys wearing his “horsey backpack”.
Let’s see… I have a little boy who will turn 2 in June and am expecting twin boys in June also. Need I say more?
We got one of these for our first son. He loved it, and he still likes to put it on…at the age of four! We obviously don’t actually hold onto the tail, but he loves to wear it around the house.
The reason why we need another is I’m afraid he’s not going to be willing to share with our youngest son, Griffin. Griffin is “almost” walking, and I can already tell he’s going to be my runner. So I’ll be needing this for him so I won’t break Logan’s heart by taking his away.
I could desperately use one of these. My son is 3 and can be very sneaky and out of control. We have 3 children, the youngest being one month.
Up until a month ago, I absolutely did not want one of these. I have 3 kiddos, but they are spaced apart…right? Well, I lost my five yr. old in a museum in April. Not a “oops, where is he?” But rather a “someone find my child and find him now!!” It took me a good hour and a half to calm my heart after he was found. I have been coveting a leash ever since…
I love these harnesses my friends have them for there little ones, now I am having my little one soon and I want and need these cute harnesses.
I would love to have one of these. I have a 1 yr old and a 3 yr old. We just moved 6 months ago and I am a stay at home mom. My husband works insane hours providing for us so me and the kids are by ourselves the majority of time. I would love to explore our new surrondings but my 3 yr old is an explorer and regardless of how fast I try to be with the stroller I can never keep up. Thanks for the opportunity
I need this because my daughter is stubborn!! I especially like the monkey one.
My 1 year old thinks he is in a race all the time. The other day my older son told me we needed to get one of these.
I’m kind of thinkin’ Aiden is gonna be needing this. He is not walking yet but has taken a few steps. If the way he escapes up the stairs in a matter of seconds to eat the damn cat food (when he won’t eat most table food) and drink the cat’s water is any indication, I am so going to be needing this.
So cute! I hope I win it, my son just started to walk!
Had been wondering about a harness for my daughter! You’ve convinced me!
I have 15 month old twins. My son has been walking since 10 months and is really fast! My daughter only recently started walking but will soon join her brother in running. Running shoes and a good jog bra won’t be enough to handle these two at our neighborhood parks, in airports, . . . heck, even around the house! These two may have spent 39 weeks together in utero but no longer! I never thought I would leash my child until I had two and they started walking–yikes!
OK no stories here, but I have always been a fan of the kid-on-a-leash idea. I think Ashlyn would get a kick out of it!
I have 3 month old twin boys, and I have similar feelings to Pam’s comment above! I’ve been blessed with two boys that are double trouble, and the leash may come in handy!
I have a 14-month old (just a few weeks older than Fin, actually) named Raley. She got off to a slower start than Fin with walking and climbing (no big brothers to follow, I guess) but now she’s a nut! She will not be content to stay in her stroller for much longer and she’s getting more confident walking, so I think it’s just a matter of time until we need one of these!
I have the monkey leash and my 22 month old LOVES it. He’d wear it everyday, if I’d let him. I used it last month in a very busy science musuem and it worked great! I did see a parent who also had one, but didn’t use it in the nicest way. I simply use it to give my child the freedom he loves, in a safe way.
Mary
I would love to use this for my toddler. It will give piece of mind that they are safe.
I have 2 boys - 2 yrs and 3 yrs old. The 2 year old channels Jackson and Finley - he lives life to the fullest and is always on the go! My 3 yr old is more like Shane. Strolling along and taking in the world around him. Not a good combination.
I need a monkey for my monkey.
We adopted our 2 year old son from Da Nang, Vietnam last April and since the moment we met him, he has not stopped running. He was walking when we met him at 13 months old, and has since added climbing, sprinting, running backwards, and jumping, to his list of accomplishments. Although he sits in the stroller when we take the dog for a walk (as long as snacks keep coming his way), our son is a NIGHTMARE to take out anywhere in the stroller, where there might be things to tempt him such as malls, stores, the zoo etc. He will not sit down in his stroller but insists (in the loudest scream ever) on climbing out, which is not a problem for our agile little boy. D. likes to move and explore and wants so badly to be like his 5 year old sister. If she’s walking, he wants to walk. If she’s picking up toys in a store, he wants to pick up toys too. You get the idea. The Goldbug leash is something I’ve thought about, but haven’t acted upon. I’ve seen many kids wearing them, and often wondered how my son would react. He loves backpacks, so I would hope he’d like wearing it. I think with practice at home first, it would be a lifesaver when we’re out and about.
We have been thinking about getting this for our adventurous 19 month old son……. wish they had made *cute* harnesses when our now 15 yr old daughter was his age
we got quite the look when we used hers (I always told people that they could see her on the harness or on the evening news - the harness was a better option imo, lol)
I used a harness for my daughter (almost 4 now) but just a plain one. These look great and I would love to win one for my second child that I will hopefully adopt soon from Vietnam.
I can’t use one yet, but will be able too soon!!!
Like I said-I’ve got one for Josie-but if I win one I’d give it to Natalie (koprowskikids) who is pregnant with #4. She’s taking a blog break this month-so I don’t think she entered herself-but this is one Mama who could use a harness! She has 2 2 1/2 yr olds, an almost 2 yr old and due in November! She could also probably use some prescription medication-could you help her with that too?
Love the harness! Peace of mind is so important, and worth a few dirty looks from judgmental people!!
We adopted twin beautiful baby boys from Vietnam last October and they are starting to experiment with walking and I am starting to see that pretty soon we will have a real need for something like this when going on outings - pick me, pick me!!!
I’ve been thinking about this one. I think my 5yo might have needed it more than the 2yo but what the heck! She’s proving to be as fast as her brothers & more sneaky.
You know, I wish you had this giveaway (and I’d have won) BEFORE we went to Disney
I think it could have been quite helpful!
okay, I am planning a trip in which I have to go through several airports(maybe even Denver…)
I’ll see your Jackson, and your Finley, and raise you a HOPE! No really, we would not have survived Hope’s second and third years of life without this. Noah is 12 months old, so we are well on our way to needing this lifesaver again! I would love to win! And, as a bonus, it is kind of fun to shoot back dirty looks at the people who talk about what a bad mother I am for leashing my child! They clearly never had a Hope (or a Jackson or a Finley :-))
I figured there would be so many trying to get these, that I shouldn’t bother registering! But here i am. PLEASE PICK ME Mr. Random.
We had the monkey w/ my son. Lifesaver a few times! I would love to give one as a gift to my friend who just had her baby.
River is a runner and a climber…he never stops and scale just about anything in the blink of an eye. It’s impossible to get this kid in a stroller or sling. The only time he can be restrained is in the hiking backpack we have for him, and that’s on a good day. So yes, I’ve been checking out the leashes lately. I’m in desperate need! Everywhere we go, people stop and ask me if he is always “this active.” So, pretty please, pick me, or else I will actually have to buy one in the store in front of judging eyes, lol!
Seriously, I’ve never had a problem with child leashes. I’d much rather have the child safe and on a leash than hurt/missing without a leash. As far as why I would need one? All I’ve got to say is… you’ve read my blog. I have a Petunia! Yep, my full-of-attitude, spicy girl who may somehow be related to Finley. You think?
I’d love to win one of these adorable things for her. Thanks for the giveaway fun!
I was a leash kid. I was that kid that would wander away and absolutely not care if I was lost among strangers for quite awhile. So for anyone that fears the “damage” that these might inflict, don’t worry. I thought it was great fun and would pretend to be a puppy out for a walk. My son only just started walking and lack of confidence keeps him close, but once he gets sure of his footing, look out world. So I could really use one of these in the very near future.
My kiddo isn’t walking just yet, but I expect he will ramp up to a dead run in no time. I’m sure this will come in handy!
Okay, after your last post, I’m entering. We’re going travelling out west this summer and you never know, it could come in handy in airports.
I want this for a friend. Of course MY son is perfect and never runs away - so not true. But my friend’s little boy is going to have tire marks on his back without one of these! She is at wits end!
I could definately use one of these, I have a 4 year old who is a wanderer and is hard to keep up with.
Hey Ill harness a kid and I know plenty of friends who I wish they would harness theirs!! LOLOL!!!!
Pick me! Pick me! I had this on my list of must-haves because my Duc is a little like your Jack–always on the move! He started climbing trees before he even hit 11 months so you know I am desperate for one. I will try to blog tonight and enter again.
I am going to be a first time mom and I have two step children 7 and 4 so I know I will be chasing kids and having this gift would help tremendously.
This would make a great gift for someone that I know…
I remember my mom using something similar with my little brother at places like the amusement parks, zoo, etc because he had a tendency to run off. I would love to have one in my arsenal when my little one gets to the walking stage.
I’m a little bit opposed to these, but I do have a three-year-old who flits around like a hummingbird on crack. So, it would probably keep her a lot safer!
I’m waiting for a baby from Nepal. I’m sure she’d look great in a monkey backpack with a leash…if I’m allowed to enter the giveaway without actually having the baby home yet, or the referral, or the guarantee letter (not that I’m ranting). Anyway, I’d love one.
I could use one of these.
I have a 6 month old whose getting ready to be on the move. One of these would be great for outings in public places. I’ve been with friends whose kids have wandered off. I’d rather be safe than sorry.
I have a VERY active 3 year old boy and we are hoping to bring home our adopted child from Uganda within the next 6 months! I have always been unsure about these things, but safety is very important when I will be divided my attention between two toddlers! Thanks Lori!!!!
I just posted a link to the contest on my blog: http://lovingmomseeksvnprince.blogspot.com/2009/05/trouble.html
I have a new two year old and she is WILD! We may need this for sure!
Amy
Okay, I’d like to win a leash because we have a little wild woman on our hands. She has to be the fastest 16 month old on the face of the planet! I think it would be handy when in crowded areas. She’s too wiggly to hold onto and doesn’t want to be in the stroller, but I can’t let her roam around on her own when there are too many people around.
this would be awesome. my son is all over the place with curiosity, plus he’d love the monkey

I used to see people with kid leashes and I honestly thought it was a little cruel. But now I have a toddler and I TOTALLY understand. My 18 month old is fiercely independent and refuses to hold hands when crossing the street/parking lot. I need to leash him now as baby #2 is on the way!
Ahhhh…just what I have been looking for….I have a 38 year old husband that I would like to put a leash on somedays!! HAHA!! What is it about dads(or at least this particular one) that thinks he can just go out to the garage or wherever it is that he dinks around anytime he feels like it?!? I could hook him up to the leash and not let him out of my sight(especially when someone has pooped) I cannot even manage to go to the bathroom without announcing it and making a huge production and then everyone congregates into the bathroom with ME!! No, all joking aside…I love the backpack leash idea…I have one for my 2 yr old and now I think I’m in need of a 2nd for the lil’ sister…they are 10 mo. apart. Uggghhhh….I kind of have my hands full!!
I just want everyone to be safe!!
I’m expecting my first child and I think this would be helpful when we travel or go to crowded places. We actually saw one in use at a rally and we both said that we need one of those when our child reaches the walking age.
This would be perfect for my son! He is 18 months old and so rambunctious! He loves to run now and always trying to get away! I am also 8 months pregnant, so it will really come in handy when I am holding the little one and have to keep my son “on the leash”
I also like how it comes in a monkey and dog design. He would love it. (I think its so cute too)
I had a leash that really did look like a leash for my first, and let’s just say it was not a hit. I garage-sale’d it years ago, but am beginning to wish I hadn’t now that I have a 6 yo, 4 yo and 2 1/2 yo who would really rather not hold mama’s hand. Maybe a monkey leash would keep my littlest monkey out of traffic!
I would love one of those. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one i Sweden. It would be perfect, now that I’m waiting for child number two. I’ve chiped in and I’ll put a link on my blog as usuall. (And offcourse I’ll pay for shipping if I win)
Ancient single Mom to one VERY active 3-year-old here. Next month we are driving up to see family in New England … from Florida!
(I know, I know… I need a lobotomy first…) I can just envision her running into traffic on I-95 while at the rest stop.
I plan to show my daughter the great places I remember from my childhood: The New England Aquarium, The Arnold Arboretum, Provincetown on Cape Cod. I’m thinking the “leash” would save me trying to contact my Dr. for some mind-numbing drugs to make it through the trip alive… her, not me… (meaning the one who stays alive, not takes the drugs!)
I remember my mom having one of them in the 60s and using it on my brother… not anywhere as cute… (the leash, not my brother) …more like a light blue straight-jacket with a special zipper.
Ahh… the childhood memories come flooding back. Good times! : )
Ahh… I forgot to mention, I have posed a link on my blog:

Laureen
We would love to try one of these as I travel quite a bit and a leash would enable my wife to take our twins for a walk while I am away without stifling one or the other too badly. Right now, we would leash our son as he is really fast. In another month, we will likely need to leash our daughter as well once she perfects her walking skills and leaves her granny walker at home. Right now we are quite a sight with my son running down the sidewalk and my daughter following with her little push walker. Anyway, pick me and it’ll be a win-win–one free harness for us and one follow-up purchase (because everything has to match here or there are the inevitable fights!).
totally a safety issue. We use it all the time and could give a crap what others think. I would rather use it than have a dead/lost kid.
This is just the thing I need for my 3 year old!
I had to laugh when I saw your comment in the later post about the stigma. I have a wrist-leash for my older daughter (haven’t seen it in a while, where *is* that thing??) and I thought when I went out with her on it that people would make snarky comments but in reality, anyone who ever said anything to me was either saying, “great idea,” or, “where did you get that? I need one!”
So, enter me in for the cuter leash! Maybe I’ll win something one of these days…
We already have one for Owen. But we could use another one for his little terror of a brother, Dash!
Word officially spread on my blog-wendlers.blogspot.com!
Twin toddler gentlemen………..
no kiddo yet but hope to be in the domestic waiting pool by Aug/Sept! This would have helped when I spent the day with my 20 month old nephew!
I remember being on a leash when I was a kid. Didn’t even have a cute monkey backpack to disguise it. Just a regular leash. But no wonder! I was kid #6!
Well, my almost 4 year old Jackson is quite spirited with no fear and therefore going ANYWHERE in public is hard for me alone because he runs around in crowded parking lots and through any store-I have actually tied a string to his pokcet once but ir ripped off his belt loop-now he asks “mommy, are you going to tie me up?” So I WOULD LOVE this product so I can safely take my son out with just me and not always need another adult!\
Thanks so much for your consideration!
Stacy
We have the doggy one..never worked for us b/c Annslee would pull my arm off…hoping it will for Coby : )
Enter me though..it would make a great gift!! Oh, and I always say “I’d rather see my kid on a leash than on an Amber alert!”
I use to be that parent too that thought kid’s leashes were against some kind of human rights. I couldn’t understand why parents couldn’t just keep an eye on their kids. But then my nephew was born. I think there is something about boys that makes them just want to be on the run all the time! He runs out in the road, down the store isle, through the chapel at church, and pretty much anywhere. Just watching him can wear a person out. But mostly he’s fast and when outside all of his running could lead to a bad situation, especially since the running is away from the parents. They have a leash and it works wonders! Our little girl is exactly the same age, and she has always been content to stay put. She’s kind of dainty like that. But this summer we are going on multiple vacations with our families. This entails hours in airports, at amusement parks, the beach, and scenic sites that include cliff areas. Ahh! Scary! So when my Mother in Law brought up the fact that we should by her a leash for these trips I started to think more about it. Leashes aren’t for parents because they are lazy but to prevent dangerous situations. I would love to win this for my little one so that our trips are safe and fun. She loves both monkeys and doggies! Of course if I don’t win I’ll still get her one, but it would be exciting to win!
Thanks so much for the giveaway!!!
I would love to win this for my 2 1/2 year old daughter. When we go out it is really hard to get her to stay with me or hold my hand, especially when we have her little brother with us. When we have him with us it’s like she know I can’t just leave him and run after her. Anyway when we go out we are a supernanny special waiting to happen. This is such a great giveaway and something that is much needed for us!!!!! Thanks!!!!
I have a 7 month old who is already a wild one! He rips around the house in his walker, opening and emptying cupboards and terrorizing the dog. My husband is in the Navy, and we spend a lot of time waiting on the pier for him. I definitely need a “leash” or homecomings will be a nightmare. My worst fear is that once he’s a walker my fearless babe would launch himself right off the pier…
I don’t have kids YET! Still hoping VN reopens SOON! I would give this as a gift to my cousin for his nearly 2 year old boy. This 2 year old looks like a 3 year old and is ornery. He’s hit the terrible two’s early, but is still a sweetheart.
I think (know) we need this for Ruby - she is 17 months and has started running (away). We’ll be back in London in June and this would be perfect to keep us all safe and sane!
My wild one….. needs this. Heck my spouse needs this……
I need to feel like I can reel them both in.
Wouldn’t Spencer look great in that!
Sure….why not enter! It would be a great gift for a friend of mine if I win! My kids are getting too old now for it.
My son is about 17 months old and looooves to walk everywhere. He is already in the phase where he refuses to hold your hand and is constantly trying to pull away! This would be some much needed freedom for him, yet still keeping him close by
We could use it for our 3 1/2 yr. old too, she is always trying to run off or is stopping to look at something….we are always telling her to come on! It is a really cute harness too! Thank you for the chance to win this.
My nephew whom I watch often is finleys twin. Please save my sanity the next time I watch him.
My almost 1 year old will be needing this pretty soon! She isn’t walking yet, but I can already tell that when she starts we will need some help keeping her from running off in crowded places. I saw a little girl at the zoo wearing one of these and I thought it was so cute! My friend didn’t even realize it was a leash until I pointed it out. It just looks like a cute little backpack if the leash part isn’t being used. Anyway - I would love to win one!
My husband is going to Italy to study for two weeks in July and my daughter and I are going with him. Our little girl is just starting to toddle and I have a choking fear that she will get lost or kidnapped. I work for an airline and have traveled a lot, but this will be our first international trip since adopting Baylie. I am planning on buying/borrowing a leash just to give me some peace of mind and to keep Baylie safe. The timing of this giveaway is perfect and hopefully we’ll win one.
Our just turned 3 yr old feels he is very independant and does not want to stay near us when we are walking in crowded places. I would totally use it if I win. I have thought of purchasing one before but I then remember how I use to be “pre-toddler”. Once upon a time I felt that people only used them when they could not handle their children. However, after Ethan, I have SSOOOO changed my thinking. We are going to visit family in Ft. Myers & the monkey would come in handy. I hope I win:))
I would love this for my little doll. She loves to run and run and run.
My almost 2-year old James is handful, to say the least. Having a three-month-old means I don’t always have enough hands to keep him close. This would be a lifesaver. It’s officially posted on my blog. boshardfam.blogspot.com
