On the 5th Day of Christmas…

UPDATE: contest extended until 12/17

Need to save your marriage?  Your sex life?  Improve your dart score?  Your dancing?  Ok, I’m totally joking, but seriously, if any of you out there want to join me on the podium to receive the “Wife of the Year” award, I’m happy to share it.  All you have to do is enter to win this contest or just go buy this as a gift for yourself husband, and I assure you that award is IN. THE. BAG.

The BEST Christmas gift for dad is…drumroll please…a Custom Kegerator Conversion Kit, retail value $150!!  In case you’re as clueless as I was, it’s a kit that transforms any old mini fridge, fridge, chest freezer into something that stores a keg inside and allows you to have beer on tap.  Cold, delicious, draught beer in your home (or garage, as the case may be).  Depending on how you want yours set-up, this is an example of what I’m talking about:

DSC_0758DSC_0754

Seriously, I dare you to round-up a group of guys and ask them their dream Christmas (or Father’s Day) gift.  When I did that, kegerators were at the top of that list!  I’ve always rolled my eyes at Travis when he begged for one, mostly because I didn’t know how to go about buying one for him.  Fear not fellow-clueless-spouses-who-want-that-award-but-have-no-interest-in-doing-anything-X-rated-to-get-it.  This is your chance.

KEGMAN is sponsoring this contest, kegman.net

and David has been a pleasure to work with, extremely generous, and maintained excellent patience talking to an adult who asks as many questions as a 1st grader.  KegMan makes draught beer, wine, seltzer, and soda equipment, along with some great Dad stocking stuffer ideas if you’re not in the market for something quite as fun big as a kegerator or conversion kit.  Check out this fun thing called the BrewTender,

BrewTenderwhich is a beverage cooling and serving system, awesome for hosting parties, even kids parties (they love the self-serve feature) - it has a tap and an insulator center for ice so the meltdown doesn’t water down whatever drink you’re serving (iced tea, juice, punch, beer, etc.).

David from KegMan has agreed to provide the winner any help they need getting their custom kegerator up and running (although if you ask Travis, he says it’s not terribly difficult to put the kit together).  He is also offering a 2nd and 3rd place prize for this contest!!  The 2nd place prize is a Draught Tower (part number 8655):

tower2

and the 3rd place winner will receive Seltzer bottle and chargers - make your own Sparkling Juice (part number 2244):

Seltzer

ADDITIONALLY, KegMan is offering a 5% discount coupon to all who enter this contest!  Let’s have some fun with this one…here’s the prompt your comment must answer:

Why should you win this?  Plead your case, tell us your story, convince us you need this:)

David will be selecting our winners and we will announce them on December 16th.

The hubz and I have been married for a year and a half now and we are in the process of buying our first house. As a result, he is FINALLY having to part with MOST (if not all) his bachelor decor. What you ask? Oh, you know the black leather couch that breaks everytime someone sits on the left side, a red chair that is neither matching of anything or functional, and a picture of bathroom humor (no other details needed)! Really? Yep, he’s 30. Not too mention all other normal just “guy” junk he has to part with despite his negotiating skills. SO, this would be such a nice surprise for him to have so he can still feel like a man as he is sitting in our modern, decorated home with Southern Living Decor galore! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, help the hubz out!

OK…my husband deserves this! He started working 2 jobs when I lost my job while 5 months pregnant last year. He continues to work 2 jobs so that we can keep our girls out of daycare and home with me. I work part time but he picks up all the slack. Not only does he work 2 jobs and is away from the girls all the time but he helps me with the house. When and if he does get time off he enjoyes an ice cold beer and I would love to be able to give this to him! He works hard!

Because my husband has “everything”… and of course it takes someone else’s wife to tell me what he really “wants”.

Laurie and David the Kegman, Wow, talk about ESP! I was just talking to my nephew who is 27 about what he wanted for Christmas and the Kegerator was at the top of his list, followed by books on how to make your own beer. I found a cute key chain that said “Beer makes me happy” it would be fun to put that on the top of the Kegerator box and give it to him for Christmas. He is a wonderful young man who is so giving himself. I would love to win this for him. P.S. He is a responsible drinker and doesn’t drive when drinking. This would help keep he and his friends safe at home enjoying a cold brew from their very own Kegerator!! Thanks for reading this and I hope I win it for Brian!!

My husband is so hard to surprise for Christmas. He never drops hints and never wants anything besides sweatshirts and underwear. I was so excited when he said he thought an old fashioned popcorn cart would be neat in our basement and super pumped to find it 50% off on Black Friday. I had to order it so I was very good at watching for the UPS man and keeping my husband away from the door when other packages arrived before the popcorn cart. And wouldn’t you know it-UPS showed up 5 minutes after I left for a hair appointment last week. So my husband answers the door, sees the popcorn cart box and tells the delivery guy he thinks he just ruined Christmas. I was so bummed! My one chance to really surprise him! He loves beer and this kegerator conversion kit would be an even bigger hit than the popcorn cart. If I win this, I can still surprise him and Christmas would be restored!
Thank you-
Amy in Iowa

9 Nicki { 12.09.08 at 10:43 am }

ok that is so freakin’ cool! Man Tony would love something like that for christmas!!!! all he wants is dumb cds and dvds. lame. Beer - now there is the perfect gift that keeps on giving :)

10 Jennie { 12.09.08 at 10:53 am }

Hi David (and Laurie!)- While my husband always enjoys a cold beer, he actually really likes sparkling flavored seltzer water and has actually mentioned that he would love to be able to make his own at home. It would be great to give him the seltzer bottle for Christmas. I haven’t seen anything like it in stores. Happy Holidays!

11 Ashley { 12.09.08 at 11:07 am }

Because beer helps with my letdown, hehe! Oh and maybe Will would enjoy it too but mommy would love it:)

12 Amanda { 12.09.08 at 11:16 am }

So while I’m not pleading specifically for my husband, he would be able to partake in this Kegerator as well :)
In May I was 7.5 months pregnant and the lease on our apartment was up. We didn’t want to continue renting at the place we were at because our rent was going up and every other place was about the same price. We couldn’t put a down payment on a house because we didn’t have enough. So we were kind of stuck. Another couple heard our plight and offered to let us live in their upstairs bedrooms. Almost for free. And with a BABY on the way! The husband is one of the hardest working people I know (well, so is his wife for that matter), and is currently away from his wife in Pennsylvania for the second week in a row (and probably going to be gone next week as well) working on a plan with his company to save the world (or something like that).
I had no idea what we could get him for Christmas that would be cheap but still useful and/or wanted. This gift would be PERFECT to the couple who opened up their home to us and is STILL letting us live here. To come home after a week away and to be able to sit and enjoy a fresh, draught beer, would probably make his weekend just so much better.

13 Amy { 12.09.08 at 11:18 am }

Oh so many reasons . . . my brother found out last night that his girlfriend of 6 years (and fiance) has been cheating on him since August! It is awful. My brother is my favorite person in this world and his world has just been crushed! I need an awesome Christmas gift to boost his spirits and let him know how much we all love him!

14 emily { 12.09.08 at 11:35 am }

you should give this to my husband b/c he is a drunk.

15 emily { 12.09.08 at 11:35 am }

just kidding, i am really the drunk.

16 j { 12.09.08 at 11:42 am }

Well, I could write my dh’s sob story, but he is not really the whiny type(that would be me) and he would probably kill me if I did…
but suffice it to say that he has had to carry WAY more that any one man should and he has done it with dignity and strength, and I think that 3 1/2 years of dignity and strength= 1 kegerator….

17 crystal { 12.09.08 at 11:46 am }

I really need to win this prize becasue the hubby is getting laid off as of Jan 5 and this would def. cheer him up! Maybe it will motivate him to go find a new and better job:) Thanks for thinking of the men this hoilday season Laurie.

18 Uncle Jer { 12.09.08 at 11:56 am }

I’m likely the only one posting who is in college. Need I say more? Everyone else probably has important things and responsibilities to worry about, not me. For everyone else, winning this contest would probably be detrimental, not me. I’m young enough that my liver won’t fail (yet) and I’m expected to be tanked most of the time. Come on…

19 Uncle Jer { 12.09.08 at 12:12 pm }

O yea, I’m 21 and I have ID to prove it… A real ID too

20 Shannon { 12.09.08 at 12:36 pm }

My husband is German. We have a huge Oktoberfest party every year, and bottled beer just isn’t very authentic. Instead of leaving milk for Santa we have always left a beer. Wouldn’t you agree Santa deserves draught beer?

21 Liz { 12.09.08 at 12:45 pm }

I would be very pleased, honored, and excited to win this prize so that I can give it to my fiance. We’re using up all our money (not much since we both just finished grad school) to buy a house. But he still managed to buy me an engagement ring more exquisite than I desired. Money is tight right now so this awesome gift would be the perfect way to say thanks! Don’t you think he deserves it?! I do!

22 Melton { 12.09.08 at 12:49 pm }

My son-in-law is the one having to give up all of his prized “bachelor” possessions due to the new house. Now, I for one, think he is a smart man trying use as much of the stuff he already has instead of buying new things. I mean you know the state of the economy right now, a dollar saved is a dollar earned. But I know my daughter. She is stubborn, great girl, but stubborn. None of that stuff is making it to the new place. Give the guy a break. If she is agreeing to this, he deserves the kegarator.

-Melton, Dallas, TX

23 Marla { 12.09.08 at 12:54 pm }

Mother-in-law’s turn…this is a family effort (see Alicia & Melton’s comment). All discussions of furniture for the new house aside. This man deserves to come home to the kegarator. I have a milestone birthday coming up and this would be lovely to have at the party, I am sure they are going to graciously host for me! Haha! Just kidding. He’s a great guy and they love to entertain. It would get great use out of it and recommend it to all their friends.

-Marla, Dallas, TX

24 Angela { 12.09.08 at 1:05 pm }

Because we like to “party like it’s 1999!”

25 Kelly { 12.09.08 at 1:23 pm }

Emily’s answer is too funny. Ha. I want this for us because we are kind of tied to the house for the moment as Annie (our newly adopted daughter - new as in less than a month ago) adjusts to her new life. There is no way we could or would leave her with a babysitter at this point. But if we had a Kegerator, the party could just come to us!! Everyone would want to be at our house if we had that. So everyone wins!!!! Please David, pick me!!

26 In Due Time { 12.09.08 at 1:23 pm }

I would love to win this for my brother! He’s 23 years old and just recently moved across the country to be with his girlfriend after she moved back home to her family. She has two kids from a previous relationship, so this wasn’t something ‘easy’ for your average 23 yr old male. This is his first Christmas without his friends and family, which is going to be hard for us all since we are a close knit family. He would LOVE to receive this in the male. I recently moved 600 miles away from my family to be with my boyfriend while he’s in grad school, so money is too tight for me to get any presents this year. But, he would totally think I was a kick ass sister if I sent him this!

Great giveaway! :-) Have a great day!

27 nora { 12.09.08 at 2:20 pm }

Dearest David,

Oh my goodness, my husband and I were just perusing through his shot glass and beer stein collection from college and he was saying how he has always wanted a Kegerator. And here it is!

My husband and I decided in October that with 3 kids under 3 (isn’t that reason enough???) that we would forego Christmas presents to each other. But I just feel too crummy about it - he works long hours, and comes home to play with his girls every night. 2 days before Christmas he graduates from his MBA program and he is going to skip the grad party in order to make it to a family get-together (my family - yet again, reason enough!!) It would be so fun to have a huge box under the tree on Christmas morning, with his name on it and that wouldn’t put our bank account farther in the red.

Thanks for a great giveaway Laurie!

28 Melissa { 12.09.08 at 2:25 pm }

Dear David,
We should win this contest because my husband and his friends would absolutely FLIP if I had this thing set up by the time they got home. They are all deployed right now and won’t be home for a while but can you imagine their face if they came over for a welcome home dinner and I had it set up! We’d be the hit of the neighborhood maybe even the whole post ;-) It would be amazing to win this for him since his dream is to have his “mans room” in the garage with what he thought would just be a cheapo fridge full of beer but instead could be a kegerators. Yep there would just be no words for the look on his face I’m sure!

29 Cindy { 12.09.08 at 2:27 pm }

I am a single mom of a 21 month old little boy. I am in my (very) early 40s. What other way am I ever going to hook a man than the kegerator? Seriously, I could be married in a month with this thing. Or at least have a little fun (nudge nudge wink wink). Help a girl out!!

30 april { 12.09.08 at 3:17 pm }

I have barely entered into decade #4, I am waiting, impatiently, for the adoption moratorium to be lifted on Vietnam, I just moved in with my boyfriend of just under 5 years and since he seems to immensely enjoy his frothy libations this would be the perfect gift to nudge him towards a hugely insane diamond ring for me. JK. However; I would hope it would encourage him to buy that bling. It would be a great gift for any Frothy Barley & Hops Loving Manly Man, but I hope/pray that David picks me out of the many other deserving women. Thank you.

31 Uncle Bill { 12.09.08 at 3:19 pm }

I have the perfect corner of the house for this!!

32 Emily { 12.09.08 at 3:47 pm }

I need to win because… my husband and I love beer, and beer makes your milk come in ;) Right? PICK ME!

33 Amy Jo { 12.09.08 at 4:18 pm }

Can you believe that my first date with my husband was to a “case race”? (Meaning, we as a couple raced other couples…winner was the first person to finish their case of beer.) Yeah, here we are…5 years of dating and 1.5 years of marriage later - and we’ve love to have a permanent reminder in the house of the substance that brought us together - ice cold beer! Too fun!

34 Casey { 12.09.08 at 4:37 pm }

My husband is very faithful to his beer. We are former Missourians now living in the coldest place known to man kind, Saskatchewan! He is convinced that one day he will be able to pee outside and see it freeze in mid-stream. As we all know, plenty of beer helps generate the pee. Please help him maintain the constant flow so he may one day see his pee suspended in mid-air.

35 Julie { 12.09.08 at 5:16 pm }

OH OH OH OH ME ME ME pick me, I wanna be the wife of the year. We work opposite shifts and don’t get much time to chill together, This would make sitting back and tippin a few back much easier, and much more convenient. We are a beer drinkin family, I used to bartend at a brewery and we would be the coolest out of all the friends. Case pleaded, thanks for your time.

36 Maggie M { 12.09.08 at 5:23 pm }

My son has set up a bar in his home, right next to the pool table in the LIVING ROOM, or what should be their living room, LOL. I would love to win your giveaway for him. He’d be so delighted to open up THIS present come Christmas.

maggie@mannwieler.com

37 jennifer { 12.09.08 at 5:52 pm }

Because…I could lock my husband in the garage for awhile and he would be tickled pink (and seeing pink elephants)

AND happy husband=happy wife!

38 jenny { 12.09.08 at 6:52 pm }

I think my husband might leave me for that bad boy! hehe.. not really. But we would totally use the fire out of one of these, we always are the ones to host parties, as well as the ones to have to pick up all the empty beer bottles, so this would be great!

39 Sara C. { 12.09.08 at 7:12 pm }

Okay..my husband deserves this gift. He is literally the best man anyone could dream of. He lives in a house of girls. Okay, well, the dog is a boy, but does that really count?

My husband helps cook and clean…okay, he’s the main cleaner. We’re trying to save money to pay off credit card debt, so he’s been really into looking deep into the budget to skim anything off we can think of. He’s even been going crazy coupon shopping!!! I mean, he’ll go to the store, spend $200, and end up only paying $60..he’s that good. What kind of man is willing to go to the store with 45 coupons?

But, the best part is this:
One year ago, I found out I had a broken foot. Not just a regular broken foot, but what was considered a non union fifth metatarsal. This means, it was broken for a while, but I didn’t know. My foot tried to heal, but it couldn’t, so it basically stopped trying to heal. (you may have heard this story before, but it goes with this contest, so read on). My doc casted my foot but told me that I would need to be on full crutches (no weight on it at all) for a LONG time. I didn’t know how long that really would mean. He didn’t want to do surgery if he didn’t have to, cause that may not even work. I ended up needing something called a bone stimulator, which finally worked. So, 8 months of cast and bone stimulator and my foot is totally healed now, thank goodness. However, this whole ordeal was from December 21 to September 1. I was on crutches, not allowed to walk on my foot that entire time. I ended up with a blood clot during this time, (from the immobilization from the cast) so surgery was definately out of the question!! I also started getting depressed…seeing a psychiatrist and everything (I can’t believe I’m telling people this) Oh..the wonders of paxil!!! Well, what my husband did for me for those 8 months was amazing!. He literally took care of me and the house by himself. I have 2 toddlers. They both go to day care during the day. We couldn’t afford for me to stop working, so I had to trudge to work every day. I do home therapy with infants and toddlers, so I would wake up and leave the house by 7. I don’t know how I did that for so long, getting in and out of the car and up and down stairs to people’s houses..but this story really isn’t about me, is it??? It was all I could do to get myself ready in the morning. My husband would get up, get the kids ready and take them to day care. He’d go to work all day, then drive the long horrible D.C. traffic commute home, pick up the kids, bring them home, feed them, and get them ready for bed. We’d both put them to bed together. Then, he was off working on the daily household chores. HE DID LAUNDARY for these 8 months! Well, I folded the clothes from my chair, but he did everything else. He made the beds, he cleaned the kitchen, he scrubbed the floor, he took care of the finances. He was a real angel! Being off of my foot and using crutches doesn’t seem like it would be a terrible task, but if any one of you have done it, you know it’s hell. Imagine it for 8 months. I remember my husband sitting down at the end of the day with a beer finally able to relax for a short time, only to have to get up again to help me get in and out of the shower a few minutes later (that was a sight I am sure!). I was thinking all the time, how did I end up deserving someone as great as him???
You know what? I can’t think of anyone more deserving of a special treat then him. Please pick Ed…….

40 Kerry { 12.09.08 at 7:58 pm }

One word and one word only will allow me to win this blessing……..twins! My wife is currently pregnant with twin boys. She is due in February. With two of everything at the same time…cribs, car seats, high chairs, COLLEGE EDUCATIONS…I need a little bit of stress relief. What better way to relax than to put the kids to bed and pour a cold refreshing draft beer from your own kegerator. With such high quality keg equipment as this, I will be looking forward to pouring my sons their first legal beers in 21 years from this kegerator. I appreciate this fine opportunity to have some relief from the chaos of twins.

41 MichelleT { 12.09.08 at 9:50 pm }

We just spent 6 months putting a bar in our basement. It has everything but a kegerator! My husband and I really wanted to buy one but had to draw the money line somewhere. My husband would be so pumped to have this and it would be great for our Super Bowl party!

42 Heather C. { 12.09.08 at 10:08 pm }

Well I don’t want to win this for me but my Baby Brother. He is the most amazing Uncle to my little girl, K. I lost my job (it was shipped overseas) almost right after I got home from Vietnam with K in ‘06. And the wonderful Fortune 500 company screwed all of us by not paying their unemployment taxes and took our hard-earned pensions with them. K was super sick and we didn’t know what was going to happen to her. Even though he was in his last year of College, was living over 500 miles away from us, he worked 2 jobs to be able to send home money to help me be able to pay my bills. Once he graduated with Honors, he then moved back home to help out. I wasn’t able to put K into daycare because of her medical conditions so it was really limiting my options on being able to find a good paying job. So my Brother stepped up and watched K during the day so I could work and he took a crappy evening Manager job. Which they totally used and abused him. Even though I wanted him to save his money for Grad School, he decided that his family needed it more, so he used his paychecks to either help with the bills or to help pay on K’s mounting medical bills. Never once did he ask or expect anything. He told me that K’s love was enough. This last August we were finally able to send him off to grad school. There are only 4 schools that even have the program he studies and he was accepted into each and every one of them. Of course when the time came, instead of choosing the #1 school that was on the East coast, he choose the #2 school because it was close to home and that way he could still help out. Even though he is close by he doesn’t get to come home as much as he wants. He works 2 jobs along with making sure he keeps his A average in his school work. When I’m in a bind he still sends money home but otherwise he puts the money away into a college fund for K. Seriously how many people can say they have a Baby Brother who would give so much of themselves and ask for nothing in return. Trust me when I say that this would make my Baby Brother, the biggest, most loving, hard-working, generous never asking anything for himself, hard-core fraternity brother of PKS and total geek’s mind totally BLOW if he found this under the Christmas tree. And I know that evening, I would surprise him by inviting all his friend’s over, make sure his friend’s band Jenrickshaw was playing and let him have the killer party he deserves as a Thank you for all the amazing things he has done in the last 2 years and continues to do for us. So PLEASE pick my Baby Brother!!

43 Michelle { 12.10.08 at 4:03 am }

My husband apparently has a new mission in life- turning his 6 pack abs into a “keg” of sorts;) Since he became a Navy Chief he has felt a little left out; he says he must have missed the day that they issued beer bellies to everyone…
His quest to grow his Chief’s belly is really starting to take it’s toll… The poor man is suffering from major callouses to the fingertips from popping all those beer cans, a Kegerator could relieve all of his pain!
Imagine the gas money we could save not making all those recyling trips. Plus the baby and I would no longer have to navigate our way around all the beer can pyramids just to get out the front door!
Please, help a sailor out. The Kegerator is just what he needs to help him attain his goal! You don’t want the other Chiefs to make fun of him do you???

Seriously though, he is an awesome guy and he deserves this amazing present. I would love to see his face Christmas morning after he opens it up, it would be such a fun surprise:)

Michelle

44 Eve { 12.10.08 at 6:15 am }

My babysitters, oops, I mean friends would be beside themselves if we won! Plus it would save on drawing straws to see who has to to the next frig raid! :-)

45 Dawn { 12.10.08 at 7:46 am }

This is a great give-away Laurie! I would love to win this for my husband. He has recently (in the last 2 months) become interested in brewing his own beer. He’s made 3 different beers already, but having to bottle 5 gallons of beer is time consuming. Not too mention having to sterilize all those bottles. It would be awesome to just put in a keg and have it on tap!

46 Meredith { 12.10.08 at 7:48 am }

Well, my husband and I haven’t bought each other a Christmas present in about 5 years or so because e both have BIG families. It would be so sweet if I could give him something like this, because he’s a really hard worker and really deserves it. He’s been working on his degrees while working full time since we got married back in99. He works his butt off and never takes a break unless I practically force it upon him. He’s been pretty burnt out over this last semester and misses our daughter, plus we have one on the way, so he decided to take a break from school this spring! I can just picture him coming home from work and pouring himself a beer and being so contented. I can’t wait!

47 Sharyn { 12.10.08 at 7:49 am }

This one is for the dad. My father is awesome, as both Travis and Laurie can attest to, although he was not so great when we were younger. But he made sure I grew up to be a decent woman and, in retrospect, I understand why he was a tough dad. However, he has everything, doesn’t want for anything, which makes it difficult at this time of the year. I never even bought him a birthday present this year, that’s how hard it is to buy him a present. And he refuses to give us any ideas, just continues to tell us he wants “good kids”, which I reply “he already has that from me” and I can’t do anything about the way my brothers act. So, actually, the Kegerator conversion kit could help get his good kids because as he drinks from it, we become even better kids! Problem solved! And he has a great outdoor bar/grill area that the family always gathers around and this would just make the bar area top-notch!

My case: We never leave the house and are avid beer drinkers. My husband loves microbrews, he has tried to brew his own beer twice, he had a two-story beer bong in college, and he needs something to make this Christmas extra special. Besides working insane schedules and still being Dad/Husband of the Year, he also has a brother in the hospital right now and we’re not sure he’ll be out in time for our visit for the holidays. I would love to give him the ultimate present this year. He deserves to be pampered.
My pitch: Maybe I’m getting too used to using bribery with my three-year-old but here goes…I vow to get you one free media hit in the next six months if you pick me. I am a PR consultant and have gift guide contacts at major consumer mags who would be all over this for Father’s Day…and Valentine’s Day.

Let me just say, this is seriously the best thing you can get a guy. Ladies, if you don’t win the contest, I highly recommend you put the investment into a kegerator. It is worth it!

Five years ago, my husband and I were in the military. We moved from Washington state to Florida, and went from a 500 square foot apartment to a 3 bedroom house. We had so much room!! My hubby finally had a garage and was so excited. He had talked of converting an old refridgerator into a kegerator for years. So finally, I agreed. Best decision. EVER. He got the kegerator and I got pregnant! ha!

Seriously. Buying beer by the keg is a super good way to save money. Now, you can buy really expensive beers, but if you buy a reasonably priced beer, you will save a ton of money compared to buying individual bottles of beer. My hubby, a numbers whiz, figured out he was paying approximately 30 cents per cup of beer when he bought keg. Compare that to the $3 or $4 dollars you spend at a bar and you’ve got a heck of a deal! This is also true if you brew your own. My husband has brewed his own and bought kegs.

Having a keg has tons of pluses….it’s earth friendly…no more cans and bottles to recycle. You’ll have tons of friends who’ll come over to visit…and drink beer. Your son will know the word beer by ten months. Oh. Maybe that’s not a good thing. :)

Anyway, so maybe I shouldn’t win this contest because I already have a kegerator. But I really do want to win because I want to give this one to my father in law. He’s ready for his own kegerator and this would be the perfect gift.

Again, girls….buy one of these! Your man will LOVE it. And he will worship you forever. My hubby still thinks I’m the the coolest wife around, and it’s been five years. :)

my husband deserves this. as a sahm of 4 and going to college this next semester…my husband is learning to do everything for those night classes after he picks the kids up from the sitter. He works fulltime, is an ARMY Veteran, and loves his kids more than anything in the world. He drives a crappy truck so I can have a little more dependable vehicle for the kids (1997 for me 1976 for him). Our kids are 4, 3, and 1. He also married me with my daughter and she is 7 now and he completely took her in as his own (long story about her real dad…she doesn’t know him). He’s just an amazing person and would break his back for us…he deserves it and he does without alot…

If only we hadn’t just given our old dorm fridge away to the neighbor boy who started college this fall! If only my husband had known we could have turned that fridge into a kegerator… That old fridge would have had a prime location in our home instead of sitting in our dusty storage room for over ten years. If only I hadn’t already purchased a new bowling ball for my husband for Christmas. Life is full of “if onlys” and don’t laugh, he really does want his very own bowling ball! He has been bowling a league for fun for the past three years and still uses and alley ball. Though, I think he would have much perferred a kegerator for Christmas. If only I could win this kegerator kit for my husband (who loves beer so much he occassionally brews his own). I would find a fridge to use the kit with and be deemed the best wife in the world. After all, what man wouldn’t want both a shiny new bowling ball and a kegerator for Christmas!!!

My fiancee Mike is a hard-working doctor in his 3rd year of residency, and to relax on the weekends he loves to have friends over to drink and hang out. We’re in the middle of planning our wedding right now, and in addition to working crazy hours helping patients, designing research projects for the lab, being the best dog-daddy ever to our 8-yr-old puggle and still finding time to cook dinner and go running with me to keep my butt in shape, he has taken on most of the wedding planning! He is impossible to shop for, as he never wants anything for himself. I’m lucky to be marrying this amazing guy, and it would be fun to give him an indulgent treat for Hanukkah this year. PLUS, he’s CANADIAN. No one deserves fresh brew like a Canuck. If I win, we will dress up as Bob and Doug McKenzie from Strange Brew and mix up some Elsinore beer. HOSERS!!!!!

53 Ginny { 12.10.08 at 8:25 pm }

Oh my gosh, this would be the ultimate gift for my brother. Him & his friends would get a ton of use out of it. If I won, you’d make me the coolest big sister. Maybe that would make up for terrorizing him when he was younger, lol.

54 the ben show { 12.10.08 at 8:47 pm }

Hmm, gosh, I feel compelled to put a word in for my husband, The Ryno, who is amazing. it’s been quite a year of challenges - starting off with Ben’s diagnosis and learning how to parent him in a way that would benefit him best with his cerebral palsy. Ryno’s been working overtime to learn sign language so we can communicate with our son, and he has been putting 110% into the attachment process, which can be a struggle with older kids. Ryno is just the BEST, funnest dad. Then, in the fall, when we had a failed domestic adoption placement after spending time in NICU with the baby, his heart was broken. He still can’t talk about it. He’s an amazing dad to Ben and he’ll be an amazing dad to baby #2 whenever he or she enters our lives. Seriously, he’s the silent warrior in our little family, and he never complains. After this year of extreme highs and challenging lows, dude could use a beer.

55 MelissaNH { 12.10.08 at 8:53 pm }

I should win this because: I have three sticky children, a minivan the color of a dead elephant, a carpool matrix that would make NASA engineers cry and I LOVE BEER. Send this chick a Kegman Custom Kegerator Conversion Kit! Also, if I gave this gift to my husband for Christmas, I wouldn’t have to put out for at least a year.

56 Heidi { 12.10.08 at 9:19 pm }

My husband loves to have Broncos parties, however, every party we had this year ended in the Broncos losing. All our friends have now refused to come over for the games, but I think the kegerator could change that all! We even have an empty fridge to set it up with.

57 Jessica { 12.10.08 at 9:37 pm }

My husband so totally needs this! We bought our first house last December and my husband has turned the garage into his “Man Room”. Its not really the grandest of things, it has a couple of posters and a stereo in it. We are military so there is a party around here almost every weekend. But since we had our first child this past summer our partying has been at a total zero! I would love to give him this so he could have his first “Man Room” party and invite all of his Air Force buddy’s over!

58 Liz C { 12.10.08 at 11:02 pm }

I need cause my husband left me for a 24yo, and our oldest daughter is 23yo. So now I’m divorced and looking for a new man in my life and this would bring them in droves. And at 43 I could use the help.
Besides that all 3 of my kids are adults and would love it.

59 Lorri { 12.11.08 at 12:14 pm }

If I won, I’d give it over to Liz C (#58 above).

60 Jeanie { 12.11.08 at 12:21 pm }

I’ve been reading this site for a long time, and I’ve never left a comment, but I’m compelled to put in a bid for this! My husband is an avid homebrewer, and has been lusting after a Kegerator for YEARS . . . I would love to get it for him, but the last several years we have spent all our money on unsuccesful infertility treatments and it is just not in the budget. This would make my poor husband SO HAPPY.

61 Jen { 12.11.08 at 6:31 pm }

My husband would love this. He has been slowly building the supplies for his bar over the last few years. We have many many beer mugs and steins, the neon lights, etc. And he deserves it: He’s been working two full time jobs for two years, and just recently went down to one full time job (his first full time teaching job). We have a new baby, I think he’d love something that reminds him that he isn’t as adult as everything around him seems.

62 Heather Thompson { 12.11.08 at 8:26 pm }

My husband really NEEDS and deserves this for Christmas. I have put him through much stress over the past few years and he needs this to unwind. Let me tell you about some of those stresses. We completed the adoption of a 7 month old baby boy AND girl a year ago.The adoption process in itself was full of the worst stress ever but add to that 2 new crying babies that NEVER sleep and you have real stress. He is my sons nighttime Buddy and has got up with him up to 10 times a night for the past year. No matter how early he has to get up in the morning he will walk our son around for hours to try and help him sleep. He has been a great Daddy since that now makes 5 kids for us and he is the sole provider. Now here we are a year later and just put a offer in on a bigger very,very expensive house to make room for those 5 kids (On top of the 2 houses and mortgages we are already carrying). And the kicker is he agreed to adopt one more time if I agreed to move to a bigger house that could hold all of us (I don’t think he thought I would ever agree to leave my beloved house). Now he is going to have this really cool man den in the new house but no cool Kegerator(Or maybe he will if you pick him!!). Please pick my poor over stressed Husband.
Cheers!!!

you know this is really neat and i think i may want it

64 Cher { 12.12.08 at 1:29 pm }

Since I met my husband 5 years ago in college all he ever talked about was one day owning a kegerator. Then we got married, bought a house, and had 2 kids, and the kegerator has always been put on a backburner as money was needed for other things. We did set aside a small fridge from college for bottled bears but he says it will never be the same as the kegerator he will someday have. I would love to win this for him as he is always sacrificing his needs for me and our boys.

65 Doreen { 12.12.08 at 9:24 pm }

Well, I know that my guy will love this prize. He loves his beer and loves hockey. Imagine? He could watch hockey and have his beer on tap….at home! Oh, I hope I win….I know he will so happy and really get involved in the who beer process.

66 betsy { 12.12.08 at 9:55 pm }

i should win this because i go to michigan state university for one more year and am single and need to score a guy by showing him my awesome kegerator. help a girl out!

67 Andrea { 12.12.08 at 11:36 pm }

i can’t believe i’m entering this contest! but here’s why:

guilt. when we got married 6 years ago, all of his stuff was exiled to the storage room of the apartment we were living in. it was all bachelor-type stuff that just doesn’t make a home very homey. he was hurt, but understood that sometimes a woman just has to have things her way when it comes to the home. now that we have a house, a couple of his prized possessions are allowed to stay in the basement, but the rest i made him take to his office. so while we have a welcoming (not so sporty) home, i do feel like a bit of guilt, especially on game days. but he’s never complained once (perhaps rolled his eyes once or twice…)

need. his ‘beer fridge’ is one of the things i sent packing to his office. unfortunately for him, it now holds some bottled water, cokes for me for when i visit, and his lunch. what this means is that his beer currently goes on the bottom shelf of our kitchen fridge. and now it’s a catch-22 for me: complain about the beer taking up the fridge space or start making cutbacks in my husband’s beer? then i’d feel even worse…

drool. my husband loves his beer as much as any other guy. but everytime we go through our local store, he stops to look at the taps and talks about “one day…” i have no doubt he would dub me wife of the millenia if we received this, because then he could finally get what he craves as much as the beer itself: a tap! plus i’m curious to see which one he’d go with.

surprise. i’ve sat on this for a few days but have come to this: if i can win this for him, his christmas present will include allowing his beer fridge to come home. for sure in the garage. maybe, just maybe, make the basement with his futon.

thanks for considering. merry christmas.

69 Jennifer { 12.13.08 at 10:03 pm }

My husband is the most deserving man I know for this. He has never asked for anything and has been saddled with far more responsibility than any 37 year old should have had to deal with. I mention this not for pity, rather to explain why my husband “needs/deserves” this. When I was 37 (3 years ago) I suffered a debilitating stroke. This changed the lives of everyone in the family, but put a lot more of the responsibility on my husband, who has NEVER complained. He works full time as a chemistry professor and researcher, care giver to me, and since I am no longer allowed to drive, he must cart our three boys to and from activities as well as do all the shopping. I honestly cannot think of a man more deserving than my husband.
Thank you for this chance to bring a smile to my husband’s face. As you may imagine, he lacks the free time to go out with the guys.

Heck….. not my spouse but me. I deserve the kegerator!!! My husband is the white wine spritzer type but me…….. hard core kegs that is what I drink. Pick me!!!!!

71 margaret { 12.14.08 at 9:14 am }

Okay, I’m going to make my pitch for 3rd prize. We really need it! My husband is a whiskey-with-a-splash-of-soda guy, and I am being driven insane by the open cans of soda water with just a “splash” removed! He has actually mentioned before that he thinks one of these would be really cool. I would definitely win the wife of the century award in his eyes if I win this for him!

72 Lory63 { 12.15.08 at 2:13 am }

This is so cool. I would love this. Thanks for the entry

73 Carolyn D { 12.16.08 at 7:50 am }

My brother in law loves his beer. He also loves to putter around with fun building kits and stuff, so I think his eyes would just light up when he saw this. Also…it will drive my sister nuts! Ya’ just gotta enjoy a little sbling rivalry!!

74 Pamela White { 12.16.08 at 10:46 am }

My husband found a great micro brew porter beer but it is only bottled in kegs. I wanted to buy a kegarator but they are way out of my budget. He is a great dad and hubby and deserves to have a great beer. This conversion kit will make our mini frig a perfect kegarator.

75 Monica { 12.16.08 at 11:19 am }

First I’ll give you a little background, then I’ll make my plea for my AMAZING and DESERVING SON. I am not in the military, I am not a newly wed, I am not looking for a man. I divorced when my son was 2 and my daughter 13 yrs., not by choice but survival. I am proud that my children grew up not rebelling, not expecting everything and never got a penny for doing chores. We worked together because we are Family. Volunteering has been a way of life since the kids were small and has continued through their high school and college yrs. My Son earned a youth position with IVPA, was awarded a College Organizational Award for caring. My Son is COMPASSIONATE. My son is working his way through his Graduate School. He has known since high school that if he wanted College he would have to work for it. And since Baseball scholarships are few he earned his through Community Service & Academic Scholarships. Graduated in 4 yrs with Degrees with 2 Majors and 2 Minors. My son is HARDWORKING. Since he was young I have been unsteady on my feet and since age 7 he would carry the laundry down to the basement for me, by age 8 yrs he was doing all the laundry. This inspired his athletic abilities in baseball…to run fast and hit hard, this way he never had to slide into home..he despised dirt and grass stains on his white pants.(HaHa) He has always been the protector, when in Kindergarten his sister became very ill and while in the emergency room he thought his sister was being mistreated because she was in tears. He whispered to her that as soon as the nurses stepped away he was sure he could roll her out the door to saftey. He has walked the floor and stayed up with his niece (2 yr old) when she was in pain. His eyes still well up with tears everytime he has to say goodbye to his precious niece (and Goddaughter) and return to school. He has always called me every few days or emails me to check on me, his sister & niece. He reassures me that when he’s done with school I’ll never have to worry again…he’ll take care of the family. My son is LOVING. He has always put School and Family first, then parties, friends, and relaxation. My Son is LOYAL. He beams when telling stories about his buddies and their pong tables and their kegerators. He has not been afraid to show me pictures from the parties (people control your daughters, LOL) and has done his share of being the designated driver. He is RESPONSIBLE and DEDICATED to his friends. He gives so much to his family and friends and NEVER asks for anything in return. Again this year he demands we give him nothing for Christmas. This is one kid who appreciates & loves new socks and underwear. PLEASE choose my Son (who’s name means Gift from God) as the Kegerator Winner. So he knows that not just his family but others appreciate what an Incredible Young man He Is !! (sorry this was so long but I’m a very Proud Mom, and this would be a great way to Celebrate how Lucky I Am!)

76 Jill { 12.16.08 at 4:39 pm }

Top 5 Reasons why my husband derserves this:

1. For football Sundays
2. For the NCCA Basketball Tournament
3. Because he never asks for anything
4. He has taken care of me the last nine months during a high risk pregnancy by doing the “house work” – he needs something manly.
5. “Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza.” -Dave Barry – therefore the “kegerator” must be the greatest invention of the 21st century.

77 Angela Prater { 12.16.08 at 6:41 pm }

I have a father that you cannot buy ANYTHING for. He doesn’t need anything. He doesn’t ask for anything. He is impossible. I’ve never seen this before - and I’m sure neither has he. So it would be a great gift for my dad…he would actually love it…. And I would love that :o)

78 Alicia { 12.16.08 at 7:48 pm }

Okay, I pled my husbands’ case. I have had my mother and father plead his case…but you know what? I REALLY want this thing! Who knew? I’m obsessed and check back here every day to read everyone’s comments. My husband will be ecstatic if I win this for him and I think if that happens I will seriously be the poster child of giddiness!

79 Peggy Gorman { 12.16.08 at 10:53 pm }

We have a community garden ,a greenhouse,10 guys that are always here having a beer because they are working so hard.This baby would be the greatest thing that ever happened to our greenhouse,woodstove going in front and ” The Kegerator” in the back. we would all love this !! I know the community would have so many more veggies and fruits because the guys would be “working” from sunup to sundown, as long as the Kegerator was helping them along
Thanks for the best giveaway ever and Happy Holidays!!
