Product Review and GIVEAWAY - Bebe au Lait

Note: everyone, nursing or not, is welcome to enter this giveaway; this makes an awesome gift!  And those of you adopting, don’t forget about your option to try and breastfeed your child.  Breastmilk is a gift and breastfeeding promotes attachment like nothing else.  I still regret not breastfeeding my boys (Jack because I didn’t know it was possible, and Shane because I was pregnant when we brought him home didn’t pursue it hard enough with him after delivering Finley).  Here’s a link to a support group for breastfeeding in adoption.

I just KNEW I’d fall head-over-heels for a company that makes a nursing cover called a "Hooter Hider."  There was a time, long ago (like 6 months ago, before I started nursing a baby), when the concept of hiding my hooters was, admittedly, foreign.  Back then, I’d have been more intrigued by a product called a "Hooter Highlighter," but my oh my, times have changed!  I digress…

Bebe au Lait makes one of my FAVORITE must have items for moms with newborns.  This is probably one of the cutest, most useful gifts you could give someone who is expecting or has a young baby!  Although they are called "nursing covers," don’t be deceived by that description; these chic boob tents are quite versatile!  They double as sun covers, blankets, tummy time ground covers, or even carseat hoods when baby falls asleep.  Plus, the prints are simply gorgeous.  Bebe au Lait also makes an adorable burp cloth gift set, with beautiful fabric swatches on the cloths, many of which have prints that match a nursing cover.

This is my gorgeous friend, Holly, wearing her Hooter Hider - notice there’s a firm rim around the top that makes a tent, allowing eye contact to continue while baby is nursing and keeping fabric off baby’s face

Bebe au Lait nursing covers are one of those ‘hot mama’ products that make a mommy feel stylish, no matter what she’s hiding underneath!  I mean, let’s face it.  There’s only 1 person in the world who loves my "hooters" anymore, and that’s my 6 month old daughter.  But everyone who has seen it is a fan of my Hooter Hider!

Here’s the deal for the giveaway: the super awesome people at Bebe au Lait will let the winner of this giveaway pick the cover of her choice (with the exception of the Simple Organic Nursing Covers)!!  So the rules for the giveaway are:

1)  Go visit Bebe au Lait’s website, then come back and drop a comment with your choice of nursing cover or hooter hider.  Contest ends Sunday 10/12 at midnight, winner will be announced Monday 10/13.

2)  Please remember to use a valid email address!! If your comment lands in my ‘moderation’ queue, don’t duplicate it; I will approve your comment and your comment will maintain the order in which it was left (the same # it would’ve been had it not gone to moderation first).

3)  Winner will be RANDOMLY selected using www.random.org integers (whoever leaves the comment that matches the first randomly selected integer will be the winner)

4) You may enter twice if you have a blog and link to this post. Just drop a second comment linking to your blog post, that way I’ll know you linked and you will have 2 comments that’ll be entered.

5)  You have to be willing to email me with your shipping address so I can send you your loot! Therefore, your comment will be disqualified if you are “anonymous” or have an invalid email address.

16 Amy { 10.09.08 at 12:40 pm }

I loved my hooter hider when I was first learning to breastfeed in public. I don’t use is so much anymore with my almost 1 year old daughter, but I do give one to all my pregnant friends who want to breastfeed.

Hope I win! I want a new one when/if we get pg again anyway.

68 Michelle { 10.10.08 at 12:42 pm }

OK- this is entry number two. I wonder if I’d have a better chance if my entries were spread farther apart… I mean, if Random.org doesn’t like number 67, would it really pick number 68, or 69? We’ll see…

I still like Parfait, or Pink Temple would be good, too. And I love the new look of your blog, Laurie! Really cute and fun!

69 Suzie { 10.10.08 at 12:55 pm }

Ohh, Ohh, Ohh, Hot Dots it is for me!! Love this whole concept, but, I have to tell ya…I am so sad that I did not know about this product before. My baby just turned 13 months and I have been trying to hide these hooters for a looonnnggg time, because they have become so loooonnnggg(just what everyone wanted to hear, I know the visual is almost too much). My friend’s 4 yr. old daughter wanted to know why mine were so “far down and long” ?? LOL!! I put her mind at ease and told her someday she would get some just like mine. Hahaha. I keep joking to my husband…”yeah, I used to be a 36D, now I am a 36Long!! Oh, well, worth every minute of it!! Love this new giveaway.

77 Belinda { 10.11.08 at 1:43 am }

78 Jill { 10.11.08 at 8:40 am }

LOVING the chocolat fabric!

94 Rebecca { 10.11.08 at 9:17 pm }

I really like the Hot Dots print! If we ever have baby #2 then I ‘m sure that I would be out and about more than with the first kiddo. I’m sure that I will need something like this!

95 Sandy { 10.11.08 at 9:26 pm }

mint chocolate is pretty

96 Angelique { 10.11.08 at 11:46 pm }

I have an imitation version of this wrap and it was a Godsend when nursing my son. The only problem is I made the mistake of getting it in a light blue and white toile so the thing always looks dirty. Dark colors are the way to go with nursing wraps! It’s very hard to choose just one print but I would go with Chocolat. Do they make these in extra long/wide for when I attempt to nurse the twins when they’re born?!

97 Melody { 10.12.08 at 2:23 am }

I love the Bebe au Lait Kimono Nursing Cover! Really pretty yet functional.. This is my fave as i know how easily dirty nursing covers can get after using a pale one before.. Keep at it! Really great work…

98 Anne-Laure { 10.12.08 at 6:04 am }

Hi Laurie,

I love the bebe au lait Atlantic nursing cover. My sister is pregnant and I would like to offer her this nursing cover.

99 Karen { 10.12.08 at 6:13 pm }

Love these! What a great idea–love the bebe au lait nursing cover in chocolat.

100 Pam { 10.12.08 at 8:13 pm }

Tough choices–I love both the Chocolat or the Hot Dots Hooter Hider. I found it tough to tandem nurse twins in public, even with a Hooter Hider but know this will make a great gift for a friend pregnant with a singleton!

101 ashley { 10.12.08 at 9:11 pm }

I made it yay! I quite like the chocolat Hooter Hider…you know I need it too. Wishing myself luck:)

102 Crystal L { 10.12.08 at 9:25 pm }

106 Natasha { 11.23.08 at 10:55 pm }

I love how you can keep an eye on your little one and they can keep an eye on you with the Hooter Hider! I’ve never seen a nursing cover with that feature before. The Yoko pattern is my favourite!

107 rachael { 01.10.09 at 10:25 am }

I love the black and white one because it goes with everything! OOOOHHHH I hope I win one for my bestest friend!

108 Whitney Columbus { 09.02.09 at 11:04 am }

I just love these covers and they come so highly recommended!! I LOVE tented nursing covers! Who wants to bother with excess fabric from a cover that’s not tented or a blanket? Not me! Chocolat for me please!!

109 Atarah { 09.02.09 at 3:35 pm }

The black and white Yoko print is my favorite of these. What a nice (and stylish) idea for a nursing cover. :)
