Finley’s 6 Month Slideshow

Can you believe it’s been 6 months since my epic labor and crazy delivery of our baby girl?  Seems like at least YEARS ago.  And the aftermath of the delivery seems decades ago too.

Spinal headache?…what headache?  Infected incision…what infection?  Mastitis with 105 fever…what fever?  See what I mean?  It’s all a big blur and the only real moments I remember with clarity were the early parts of labor (for me that would’ve been the first 2 days of it), going into the hospital feeling SO excited and proud that we’d made it at home until 7cm, then skip ahead to the next day…when they pulled her out (after they’d popped the vacuum off her poor little head a few times, pulled so hard they tore my uterus in 3 places, etc.) and Travis told me we had a GIRL.  It’s like the rest never really happened!  Ha!

Anyway, as I say again in the video, this baby has been another miracle for us.  The biggest part of her miracle being that she could come from me and Travis and still turn out so incredible!!  Here’s her 6 month slideshow.  It’s on the longer side, but the video at the end is the best part (it’s from yesterday, so it’s totally current).  Get some popcorn and enjoy:

The video is beautiful, and so is your family! It’s hard to believe it’s been 6 months.
I remember checking the computer constantly from our bungalow in Danang for news of your progress. And then I remember your website crashing from everyone else checking on you as well.
Happy six month birthday, Finley!!!

That was precious! Her giggly little happy self at the end was adorable. And you know, I can’t get over how much the boys have changed through the last few months either. I can’t believe it’s been six months. It felt like six months waiting the three days for you to have her.

Really great video. It is strange to think it’s been six months. I, too, was checking on your labor progress (or lack thereof!) when I was in Vietnam. In some ways, it seems like that was an eternity ago and in others in seems like just yesterday..

Ahhh! What a beautiful video. Happy 6 month birthday Finley. Laurie, you are a awesome mama! 3 kids under 3, a wife/mother, a medical student, a dedicated blogger, and a great video maker! How do you do it? :-)

Finley you are so beautiful. My fave pic is with your daddy right after you were born. Makes me cry every time! Good job with the video!

Love it, love it! You did a really great job. I’m a sucker for a “Daddy’s girl” so my fav is the pic of FInley with sleeping Travis. But I was really blown away by how much Jackson has changed - such a handsome little man.

This is too cute! Also, I love the song — I’d never heard of Brett Dennen but I tracked him down after this. It was the perfect song to go along with all the beautiful photos of your family, and especially little Fin.

What a great tribute to Fin’s first six months. I love all the sparkly eyes, dimpled cheeks, interaction with her peeps and cutie-pie outfits. I love the photo of her being weighed. That’s where I met our first son for the first time- and I always get ‘that feeling’ when I see a baby getting weighed. Yum.
Oh, I think the music was a perfect fit, too.

What a beautiful video/slideshow Laurie! I loved it! I can’t believe it’s been six months already! Finley just keeps getting cuter. Thank you for somehow finding time to do all that you do - taking fabulous pictures, making videos, raising a family, working on VN health projects, blogging… you’re amazing, really.

my favourite photo has always been the one of travis looking teary eyed at finley in her newborn basinet after she was born. it is a ‘moment’ photo. the best kind.

Finley IS a miracle in so many ways. In trying to keep up with my three little munchkins this last year, she is officially the only baby that has succeeded in making me baby hungry . . . I can’t help it! I see her cute dimples and I crave holding another little girl. Monet is turning 2 in just a couple of weeks, and Finley makes me cry as I look at her and remember the joy of bonding with a daughter after two little boys. So awesome. . . Then again, after reading your most recent blog I have to admit that my sleep these days is going much more smoothly than what you’re faced with lately. It does get easier with each passing month, but at the same time you can’t stand that time is passing. . . craziness!
