On the Road Again
Thought I’d check in because I have TONS of pictures I’d like to post, so just to warn you, this is VERY picture heavy. There’s a little trip we’ve been dying to do, and the opportunity presented itself this weekend when Travis got Friday off. We rented a Wrangler and are currently midway through the Alpine Loop, which is a rocky, dirt, mountain road, accessible only to 4×4’s with high clearance, that connects the most adorable little towns in the San Juan mountains of Colorado.
There are beautiful hikes, waterfalls, and 14ers along the way, and what better way to access it all than in a Jeep with the top down!
Jackson is loving the drive, especially because we faced his carseat forward - don’t tell CPS on us, but we’re only going 5-10mph. It was so bumpy at one point that I looked back to check on the baby…only to find Jackson laughing hysterically, holding his head between his 2 hands, as if attempting to reduce the brain trauma!! Poor kid probably has a concussion after today (kidding!). He’s so much fun, and his little sense of adventure just cracks us up.
The drive is absolutely breathtaking, and there have been the most gorgeous picnic spots along the way, in addition to incredible hiking trails.
The coolest thing is that there are a bunch of old abandoned ghost towns that were established during the gold rushes in the 1800’s all along the Alpine Loop. We stopped at 1 today and walked around the town trying to imagine what it was like in its heyday.
Jackson is changing so fast, and just too cute for words. He’s such a crack-up and makes us laugh a million times a day with his antics!
He’s very into mimicry, and copies EVERYTHING Travis and I do. He’s got a new top tooth, which makes 4 total now. Here are some recent pictures of our “Muffin Man,” as Travis frequently calls him:
Playing in the waterpark his Aunt Karen got him for his birthday:
Tomorrow we’ll continue off-roading in our Jeep, and will make our way to another tiny town, then bounce over to Telluride for lunch. Sunday, we’re climbing Jackson’s first 14er! Tonight is the first time in a LONG while we’ve had internet access, so I’m trying to get to emails, but please continue to update me if there’s any news with anyone’s adoptions! I’m still very much out of the loop. I know Katie and Joe’s G&R for Ben is on Monday, so I’m wishing them all the best.

We LOVE the pictures… all your wonderful pictures are the number one reason we bought that camera before heading over here to VN to get Ben! Thanks for the shout out on our G&R tomorrow (it’s 4:45 pm Sun and the excitement is building), we are hoping things go smoothly at the beginning of this week so we can make it to Hanoi by Thursday morning and have our interview in the afternoon… it could mean we could be heading home on Friday or Monday!! Any words of advice for the long plane ride home??
Katie, Joe, and Benjamin Teo

Your pictures are beautiful and a real inspiration. Definitely makes waiting for our referral a little easier, esp. seeing Jackson taking so many new things in stride. Thanks.
Welcome back to the US - what a way to catch up, with that amazing 4-wheeling trip! I’d love video (or pics) of Jackson laughing in the back of the jeep holding his head - I can picture it and just envisioning it makes me laugh! The other pics are great too.
And by the way, I am DTV as of this past Thursday - finally some progress.
Keep the pics coming!
